Treasures is proud to stock almost every
Nicholas
Mosse Pottery pattern available. We are limited, however,
to only three large shipments a year, so if we do not
have the exact item you require today, please allow
three to four months for delivery. This highly
prized pottery is worth waiting for.
This beautiful
pottery is handthrown from strong earthenware, then
decorated by hand - each design element is applied
separately. Careful throwing and delicate details
give the pottery an unusually light and elegant
appeal.
Flowers, animals &
holiday patterns are set against geometric repeating
borders in delicious blues, browns, greens and reds on
a soft white background.
Nick's insistence on
quality and his team's commitment to it have made the
pottery one of the most exclusive and best studio
workshops in Ireland, indeed, even in the whole of the
British Isles. The flowers and animals exist in
their own special world, making a dresser full of
Nicholas Mosse Pottery as irresistible as the Irish
countryside.
The spongeware
tradition in ceramics is ancient and can be found
anywhere pottery flourishes. This particular type of
spongeware, using intricately cut sponges and colorful
repeating patterns and borders, derives from a
Victorian tradition which existed circa 1850-1950.
Based on this earlier technique, Nicholas Mosse's
spongeware displays the unique and happy spontaneity
which only truly handmade objects possess.
Every piece of
Nicholas Mosse Pottery has been created with
enormous care. Every jug, mug, bowl or plate has been handmade, slipped, turned and hand
decorated with cut sponges and brush.
